Putting local florists at the heart of Valentine’s Day

Posted by Beccy Churchill

Working with Florismart and The British Florist Association, our PR work focuses on raising awareness of the UK’s independent floristry industry, highlighting the skilled craft of floristry. In turn, we want to encourage Brits to value and favour the work of their local high street florists over supermarket alternatives.

With Valentine’s Day being such a key moment for florists all over the country, we used the day to draw attention to independent florists. Read more “Putting local florists at the heart of Valentine’s Day”

Revealing the digital world as a double edged sword for UK youth

Posted by Beccy Churchill

On Tuesday 6th of February more than six months of planning came to a head as Safer Internet Day was celebrated across the globe.

Working with the UK’s official organiser of the day, UK Safer Internet Centre, we were briefed to make sure UK Safer Internet Centre was front and centre in all #SID2018 media conversations, so we needed a plan that would cut through the noise.

Knowing that many would release a story that focussed purely on the negative effects of the online world, we worked with UKSIC to develop a story that felt honest and positive for young people, not patronising. Read more “Revealing the digital world as a double edged sword for UK youth”

Breaking the silence for lonely older people

Posted by Beccy Churchill

We were really proud to launch Contact the Elderly’s latest national media campaign last week. The campaign – which used a combination of a news story and a shareable social video –  aimed to highlight the issue of loneliness post-Christmas and drum up donations for the charity in the New Year.

When it comes to fundraising, we know social media and shareable video are incredibly powerful tools, so it was fantastic to be able to harness them for our latest campaign for the charity.

British Tomato Week: Encouraging Britons to buy British

Posted by Beccy Churchill

This year we have been working with the British Tomato Growers’ Association to encourage people to buy British in the lead up to and during its British Tomato Week (22-28 May).

Starting our outreach in January, our strategy involved three main tactics:

  1. Inspiring Brits to use British Tomatoes in their cooking: To inspire Brits to cook with locally grown tomatoes during the week, we worked with a top recipe developer and a renowned food photographer to shoot six delicious family friendly recipes using fresh British tomatoes. These recipes were then pitched to newspapers and consumer magazines.
  2. Creating a news story: To capture the attention of the national media, we commissioned a survey that looked into people’s attitudes towards buying British produce post-Brexit. We used key news-hooks such as the recent Spanish vegetable crisis in our research to ensure the story felt new and current.
  3. Amplifying through social media: After launching a British Tomatoes Instagram account and refreshing the existing Twitter account, we reached out to key social media influencers and companies with large online profiles asking them to get behind the week’s hashtag. We managed to secure #BritishTomatoWeek posts from a number of influential food accounts  – including all the major supermarkets.

Here is our favourite piece of coverage, and the good news is that we’ve heard from our client that British tomato sales are on the up!

Stand Agency away day 2017

Posted by Beccy Churchill

On Thursday 25th of May Stand Agency staff were whisked off to Suffolk’s incredible Wilderness Reserve for its annual away day.

Set in the Walled Garden of the estate, it was great to get a recap of Stand Agency’s successes this past year and hear the business plan for the years to come.

Luckily for us Mother Nature put on her summer best and the sun shone all weekend. From alfresco dinners, bike rides and wine tastings to bonfires and sunny swims – here are some of our favourite snaps from Stand’s Big Weekend:

Hosting my first Contact the Elderly tea party

Posted by Beccy ChurchillTagged , , , ,

On Sunday, between team Stand we hosted TWO Contact the Elderly tea parties. I (together with my boyfriend and his Nan) hosted one in Essex  and Nyree hosted the group she set up in Peterborough –  both were afternoons filled with tea, cake and most-importantly – laughter. For me it was my first ever time hosting (Nyree is a seasoned regular!), so it was so great to experience the magic of one of Contact’s parties first hand. What podcasts you should be listening to right now

Posted by Beccy ChurchillTagged , , , , ,

At Stand we are avid consumers of media. From newspapers to magazines, websites and television – there’s a plethora of ways that we follow, digest and discover the news. It’s this constant curiosity that leads to our weekly team emails sharing documentary recommendations, must-see shows and most-recently – our must-listen podcasts.

Like many people, I got sucked into the podcast world last winter with the now-iconic true-crime Serial podcast, a series that had me attached to my headphones as I binge-listened to the story of Adnan. Did he? Didn’t he? It was the talk of the office.

Since then, I have moved my podcast listening beyond true-crime (a bit stressful pre-9am) and have discovered some great podcasts that are not only super interesting, but also really handy in the PR world.

Here are my top picks for you to listen to at the moment (in no order). Read more “What podcasts you should be listening to right now”

What we can learn from the Kim Kardashian West heist

Posted by Beccy ChurchillTagged , , , , ,

On Monday, Kim Kardashian West was held at gunpoint and robbed in her Paris hotel room. What must have been a truly horrific ordeal, has been (by the Parisian Police and others) attributed in part, to the star’s social media sharing habits. Regularly posting snaps of her children, location and latest blingy accessories across her social channels, it has me thinking – when did our attitudes towards online privacy become so lax –  what ever happened to being ‘cyber safe’?

Pokémon GO: The next big social network

Posted by Beccy ChurchillTagged , , , , , , , , ,

If you had told me a few weeks ago that the July marked the second-coming of Pokémon, I wouldn’t have believed you. But here we are on the 13th of July 2016, and every adult I know is embracing 90s nostalgia – running around consulting their Pokédex with the aim of catchin’ them all.

But whether you’re laughing at it, or are a Pokémon master yourself, there is no denying that Pokémon Go (PG) is a big deal.  It took the viral game Angry Birds 35 days to reach an audience of 50 million, it took Pokémon Go less than seven days – and it hasn’t even been rolled out worldwide.

Meet Stand Agency’s… Miri Buac!

Posted by Beccy Churchill

Miri joined Stand Agency a few months back as an Account Executive, and we thought it was about time she introduced herself. Miri stands out for her creative eye and ability to see the bigger picture.

How and why did you get involved in PR?

My first role in PR was during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It was an exciting time for London, and being involved in this international event was so rewarding. I got a buzz for organising campaigns, and knew PR would be the right way to put my creative eye to good use!
